Fall Fun & Festivities

How about that fall weather? We’ve had a small dose of the Texas fall weather we dream about! This time of year, there are many wonderful fall festivals, pumpkin patches, and events to enjoy. We thought we would share a few with you, maybe a family tradition or favorite of yours is listed below, or maybe you will try something new.  Whatever you decide, we hope it’s something fun!

Hocus Pocus Pops at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion!

An evening of spooky sounds and creepy creatures awaits for goblins and ghouls of all ages at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell PavilionHouston Symphony conductor Lucus Waldin mesmerizes the audience into a nightmarish performance of horrifying horns, bewitching bassoons, and chilling cellos.

Daddies, mummies and all the little ghosts and goblins are invited to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume for a chance to walk on stage during the concert; the first 100 boys and girls to check in at Hocus Pocus Central in the North Plaza, fully costumed, get the chance to march in the Goblin Parade (wristbands are required to participate in the Goblin Parade). Or jump on the Great Pumpkin Express as it leaves the station to sweep you away on a tour of The Pavilion’s haunted grounds

Train rides aboard the Great Pumpkin Express begin at 5:30 in the Gold Lot. Haunting the plazas before dusk are pre-concert activities, starting when the gates open at 6:00 PM.

Hocus Pocus Pops is Friday, October 13, 2017 at The Pavilion. Tickets for the orchestra seating (sections 101, 102, 103 and the pit) are only $20, with all other seats, and the lawn, free of charge. As always, plenty of free parking is available.

10th Annual Jack-O-Lantern Challenge

Join the fun and enjoy the music when you enter your jack-o-lanterns in the second annual jack-o-lantern challenge! Make sure you arrive in plenty of time; the pumpkin-guts start flyin’ at 5:30 PM. Pumpkins will be judged at dusk.

A fun event for all ages, there is no charge, and it includes carving supplies and pumpkins while supplies last! It all going on at Northshore Park along with Concert In The Park on Sunday, October 15.

Sinister Circus

Come one, come all!! A new circus is in town – there is just one, small, catch. Once you visit the circus, you may never come out! Do you dare take a chance to see the show? Come out to the Recreation Center at Bear Branch Park and experience the Sinister Circus for yourself – where your worst fears come to life!

Recommended for ages 9 and older, parental discretion is advised. FEE: $8 per person. Ticket sales stop at 9:30 PM.

Fridays, October 13, 20 and 27, 2017 and Saturdays, October 14, 21 and 28, from 8:00 – 10:00 PM.

Trick or Treat Trail

A FREE event for all ages; Trick or treat at Town Green Park for festive fun and special treats! This free event will have fun for the entire family and attendees are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best. While at the Trick or Treat Trail, kids will have the opportunity to trick or treat from booth to booth and fill their bags with goodies from more than 30 local vendors.

Plus, the event includes children’s activities, strolling entertainment, inflatables and costume contests. This festive event is expected to draw over a thousand attendees and is produced by The Woodlands Development Company and The Woodlands Township Parks & Recreation Department. The Trick or Treat Trail will be held Sunday, October 29 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM.

Costume Contests:

  • Costume Contests will take place at 3:15, 4:00, 4:45 and 5:30 PM
  • Participants may only compete in one contest.
  • Participants must be in the Costume Contest Corral prior to the start of the contest to participate. Once the contest begins, no additional participants will be added.
  • There will be a maximum of 50 participants per contest.
  • Participants will receive a number in the Costume Contest Corral and wear it until the end of the contest.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three costumes per contest (no age group or categories).

The Woodlands Children’s Museum Annual Spook-tacular

Kids ages 7 and under can have the best fun at The Woodlands Children’s Museum Halloween Spook-tacular!

There will be stage entertainment, a bone dig, monster truck, monster eyes, creepy crawly sensory play, a pumpkin ring toss, mummy wrap, pin the nose on the cat, a bean bag toss haunted house, monster bowling, pom pom caces, dunkin’ ducks, pumpkin shooters, face painting, a photo booth, pin the bowtie on the skeleton, and art projects like a Halloween necklace and Monster bags!

Since the museum caters to young children, nothing will be scary. Costumes are encouraged!

Please note: In keeping with the museum’s health and wellness initiatives candy will not be served at this event. Held on Tuesday, October 31 between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, this event is open to members and non-members. Cost is only $2 for members and $8 for non-members.

Take A Walk on The Wild Side with TGR Exotics Wildlife Park in Spring

Come and create a pumpkin masterpiece for one of the animals at TGR Exotics. Afterwards we will take a tour and give out your creations to the animals along the way. The best part is watching the animals enjoy everyone’s AMAZING treats! ***Babies under 24 months old will not get a pumpkin to carve. Kids 24m to 4 years old will SHARE A PUMPKIN with one of their adults in their group. Kids 5 years to 17 years will get their own pumpkin to carve/embellish. 7 Acre Wood – Thrill at the Mill

The 17th Annual Free Thrill at The Mill and Vendor Market will be held at 7 Acre Wood (4401 N. Frazier, Conroe 77303) on Saturday, October 28, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Free Admission into park and vendor show, candy, and more. Tickets will be sold for extra rides and activities.

Old Time Christmas Tree Farm Pumpkin Patch

Fridays in October: 3pm-7pm

Saturdays & Sundays in October: 10am-7pm

Bring the family out on a weekend in October and enjoy the Texas fall weather! Entry is $5 per person (age 2+). Once inside, purchase pumpkins or tickets for our eight attractions: Train, Hayride, Petting Zoo (NEW-Saturdays & Sundays only), Giant Slide, Mini Slide (NEW!), Inflatable Corn Maze (NEW!), Bounce House, and Jump Pad (see below). Enjoy some Tex Mex, Shaved Ice, or Funnel Cakes in the shade in our Picnic Area. Take some great pictures of your family. Here at the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm, we believe in keeping it simple – spending quality time with your family and getting a real farm experience.

Pumpkin Fest, Field of Screams at P-6 Farms

Visitors to P-6 Farms are in for a whole lot of treats this year; check out the fall festival every weekend, September 03 – November 12, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Saturdays, and noon – 5:00 PM on Sundays. The Fall Festival is a wealth of fun with the corn maze, cow train, candy cannon, hay rides, vintage park, jumping pillow, apple blasters, a hay maze and more! Plus, after dark enter the Field of Screams if you dare! Opening at dark, try to survive the haunted corn maze and the petrifying pallet maze. Pumpkin Patch at Market Street

Each fall, a much-loved family tradition is to visit a pumpkin patch in search of the pick of the patch, or perhaps just an adorable photo. This year Market Street invites local families to visit as they host a pumpkin patch in Central Park October 27 – 28, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM. There is no charge to select a pumpkin, but donations will be accepted for Interfaith of The Woodlands.

The Woodlands Fall Market & Fair at Christ Church United Methodist

Do your Christmas shopping early; bring the kids for fun free festival activities; bring your appetite for a Texas BBQ meal; participate in a silent auction; satisfy your sweet tooth at the bake sale; and get your pumpkins all at the same time! The Woodlands Fall Market & Fair at Christ Church United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 28 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM includes multiple vendors selling their wares, a bake sale, children’s activities and a pumpkin patch – plus a fantastic meal! Autumn Fest at The Woodlands Christian Church

Bring the family! Fun for all! The Woodlands Christian Church is hosting their Autumn Fest on October 28 – and everyone’s invited! The Craft Show hours are 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, where you can shop for gifts for adults and children. Come do your Christmas shopping early!! The Hurricane Relief Cook Team will be serving all-you-can-eat lunch for $12 (single pass $6) and proceeds will help fund the church’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Dinners for displaced families. Oak Ridge North Fall Festival

The City of Oak Ridge North will host the fourth Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 7 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Along with vendor booths, the free event will feature great food, face painting, balloons, photo booth, pumpkin patch, bounce houses, trackless train, old fashion carnival games, prize giveaways and much more! Pumpkin Fest at Faith United Methodist Church

Enjoy a day of family fun at Pumpkin Fest! Pumpkin Fest includes scarecrows, a bounce house, games, a petting zoo, and more, and of course there are photo opportunities for all ages. The Pumpkin Fest hours are 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2017. Also going on at Faith United Methodist Church is their annual Pumpkin Patch. Fall Festival for The Refugee Project

Join in for a fun evening celebrating The Refugee Project. This is their second annual Fall Festival fundraiser and all proceeds go helping The Refugee Project continue to help refugee women and their families through opportunity, skills training, pre-school classes and much more. Attendees will enjoy Carnival foods and games, a trackless train ride, yard games, sack races, face painting, bounce houses, a Pumpkin Patch, traditional Nepali and Burmese Dance performances and so much more.
