4th of July Schedule of Events in The Woodlands!

16th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Fireworks Extravaganza   Still trying to figure out what to do this 4th of July?  If you don’t have your plans set, no need to worry!  With an abundance of festivities in and around The Woodlands and Spring area, the difficult decision will be which to attend!  Below is the activities and events schedule for The Woodlands 4th of July Celebrations. 

Star-Spangled Salute at The Cynthia Mitchell Pavilion

Celebrating our Nation’s Birthday begins on Independence Eve, July 3rd, with a selection of patriotic favorites performed by the Houston Symphony – “Star-Spangled Salute” at The Cynthia Mitchell Pavilion.  This is a free event and sure to finish with a big bang!  Gates open at 6:30pm and the concert begins at 8pm.

4th of July “Parade of Stars”

On Thursday, July 4th and organized by the South County Committee, is the annual 4th of July Parade! Wear your best red, white and blue and arrive early to get your seats for this event! The committee organizers anticipate that there will be approximately 20,000 to 25,000 spectators in attendance!

The parade theme is “Parade of Stars” beginning at 9am and will feature approximately 145 entries along the 1.3 mile route and parade through Town Center area and Market Street, and begins and ends at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. The spectacle of events will offer something for family members of all ages.  From traditional marching bands, to clowns, floats, horses, fire engines, and more!

There are ten award categories with the announcement of prize winners after 2pm.  Award of prizes will be held at the 16th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival at Town Green Park.

Splash Day

If you need a place to cool off before the evening festivities, you can visit one of the 14 community pools in The Woodlands for Splash Day.  The lifeguards at each pool select special themes and offer free activities and refreshments.  Pools will be free to all residents from 10am – 8pm.  Activities will begin at 12 noon and end at 4pm.

Duck Race!

The Montgomery County Emergency Assistance (MCEA) will hold its Annual Duck Race!  This even begins at 3:00pm and will be held at the Rob Fleming Aquatic Center.  The ducks race dow the chutes at the waterpark for prizes.  Ducks may be adopted at several locations and festivals throughout the county including a the Rob Flming Awuatic Center on the day of the event.  Ducks are also available online for adoption online at www. www.DuckRace.com/TheWoodlands.  For more information call 936-539-1096. ext. 224

 “Things that Go” Bike Parade and Free Concert in Northshore Park

The early evening activities begin at Northshore Park at 4:30pm with the “Things That Go” Bike Parade and Decorating Contest.  Children up to 14 years of age are invited to parade their decorated bike, scooter or wagon around the park. The cost to enter is $5 per bike, scooter or wagon. Awards will be given throughout the afternoon.

Plan to bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs for the free Country and American music concert with Hope Cassidy from 5pm-9pm.  You’ll have one of the best seats around to view one of the largest and most spectacular Fireworks show in the southwest.

Landry’s Dinner Cruise on the Waterway!

If you are looking for something a little different, and sure to be a night to remember….try the Landry’s Dinner Cruise on the Waterway for an up-close view of The Woodlands Red, Hot & Blue Fireworks Extravaganza presented by BBVA Compass and enjoy a four-course dinner!  Boarding is at 7pm and cruise begins at 7:30pm. 16th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Fireworks Extravaganza

The 16th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Fireworks Extravaganza will be held at Town Green Park and Waterway Square along The Woodlands Waterway. The event is free and open to the public. This 20-minute Fireworks spectacular will begin at dusk and simulcast on Sunny 99.1.  This year there will be two fireworks locations.  The first from the east side of Timberloch Place near I-45 feeder, as well as from the Waterway Plaza Parking Garage adjacent to Waterway Square. Best fireworks viewing location is at Waterway Square and along The Woodlands Waterway.

LOOK OUT FOR TEST SHOTS! Prior to the Fireworks Extravaganza, test shots will be fired every 10 minutes beginning at 8:40 p.m. until 9:10 p.m. to give spectators the opportunity for best viewing.

ROAD CLOSURES – Waterway Square Place will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. on July 4 and will remain closed through 3 a.m. on July 5. The Waterway Square Place road closure will start at the intersection of Waterway Avenue and extend to the east side of the Waterway Square Parking Garage. Access to the Waterway Square Parking Garage will be open on both east and west entrances. Timberloch Place, between the I-45 Feeder and Woodloch Forest Drive, will be fully closed beginning at 8 a.m. on July 4 and will remain closed through 4 a.m. on July 5.
